SpooliT is a rules based system. You can create rules instructing SpooliT which OUTQ's you want to monitor or which specific spool files you require to be processed. You achieve this by creating 'selection rules'. Selection rules enable you to define which spool files or OUTQ's you require to be monitored and processed.
Or an individual report such as a Specific Sales Report on a specific OUTQ.
Rules definitions are generally based on spool file attributes. Each spool file report has spool file attributes. Spool file attributes include (System, Library, OUTQ, File name, User name, User data, Job name, Forms type etc). The more spool file attributes you include, the more specific the selection rule. The less spool file attributes you include, the broader the selection Rules.
Selection rule definitions are not restricted to only spool file attributes. Rules can also include 'capture fields' from within a spool file itself, such as a report name and report title. 'Capture fields' can be useful if your application software generates many spools which are all called (for example QSYSPRT) and you require to identify a particular report by looking inside the report itself to identify the
'report name' and 'report title'.
Once you create selection rules, these rules may be automated. Automating rules enables
'straight through processing'. Automating rules require no programming changes. Rules provide the selection criteria, whilst automating rules provides the schedule or interval under which reports should be processed.
You can automate tasks such as archiving, eMailing, exporting, printing or general spool file management. You can define any number of automated rules or scheduledjobs over any number of partitions or iSeries/System i/AS400 servers.
